Trained at the University of Sydney, Humphrey leads the design-driven Lucy Humphrey Studio, working on bespoke projects including residential homes, small scale commercial and residential developments, commercial interiors and hospitality fit-outs. The studio also undertakes public artworks and strategic urban interventions ranging from street furniture to public art and creative public infrastructure.
Recent awards include the University of Sydney Young Alumni Award (2012), Helen Lempriere Scholarship (2013), Sculpture by the Sea's AGNSW Site Specific Prize (Alchemy 2009), Sculpture by the Sea's Allens People's Choice Prize and Kid's Choice Prize (Horizon 2013), and Sculpture by the Sea Aarhus People’s Choice Prize (Horizon, 2015). She was recently a finalist for the QANTAS Spirit of Youth Awards (Design category, 2013), Lost at E Minor's Young Creative Australians of the Year (Architecture category) and the NSW Emerging Creative Laureate (2016).
Humphrey has taught at the University of Sydney and University of Technology, and has contributed to Architectural Review Asia Pacific (AR), Architecture Australia (AA) and ArchitectureAU. Her work has been exhibited locally and internationally including Sculpture by the Sea (2009, 2013 & 2015), the Venice International Biennale of Architecture (2008 & 2012), Sydney Fringe (2011), Sydney Festival (2012), Sydney Art Month (2013), Art & About (2013), Mercedes Benz Fashion Week (2013) and Sculpture at Barangaroo (2016).
The studio is dedicated to producing high quality, ideas-driven work that celebrates the potential for design projects of any size to create a positive difference in our day to day experiences. We focus on close collaboration with our clients, environmental sustainability, and a thoughtful integration of material choices and creative spatial design.
